This collection contains materials about 5000 Role Models of Excellence which was founded by Congreswoman Fredrica Wilson in 1993.

Collection Historical Note

This organization was established by Congresswoman Wilson in 1993 after she noticed a pattern young minority boys, dropping out of school, entering the drug trade and being incarcerated.  Initately the organization named was 500 African American Male Role Models of Excellence. In 1994, named to 500 Role Models of Excellence given to the increase in enrollment it is  now called 5000 Role Moles of Excellence.
