Whitney Houston at the Lyric Theater

In 2002, Whitney Houston shot the video for her hit single, “Try It On My Own,” at the Lyric Theater in Overtown, Miami’s oldest theater. She painted the walls of the theater purple for the video, afterwards returning them to their original color. The Lyric has been used for many other celebrity events, including a party hosted by Missy Elliott.
