Biographical Note for McKellar, Dorothy J. (1909-2003) : Dorothy J. McKellar, educator, was born on January 11, 1909 in Miami's Colored Town now Overtown at 309 Avenue.  She taught in the Dade County Public Schools for 34 years at Phyllis Wheatley, Floral Heights, Orchard Villa and Allapattah Elementary schools.  She passed away at home in Brownsville on January 22, 2003. Her daughter, Dr. Dorothy J. Fields, is the founder of The Black Archives Foundation.
