Abstract
Elry Sands was a school teacher who dedicated her life to her students, sorority and her church. She was tightly knit within the community as made apparent by the collections content. Obituraries of many, and programs documenting many events within separate and distinct groups show that Mrs. Sands was a pillar of her community.
Scope and Contents of the Materials
The Elry Sands Collection holds many programs documenting the events organized by several Collegiate groups, and churches and local Florida schools. Delta Sigma Theta chapter of FAMU is heavily featured, The Egelloc Civic, Booker T. Washignton, Liberty City Elementary, and George Washignton Carver Jr. High all also appear in collection. Mount Olivette programs and other local churches are also present. Within the collection are also a wide assortment of obituaries.
